A HOLIDAYING dad gets nicked by armed cops every time he tries to go abroad — after a wanted man stole his identity.
Piotr Galas, 48, has been arrested more than 20 times in 11 years.
He has even been hauled off flights and thrown in cells overnight before being released without charge.
And despite winning a £20,000 compensation payout from British Transport Police in 2020, he has been arrested a further 10 times since.
The bakery boss, of Redditch, Worcs, who has family in Poland, was first nabbed in 2013 and told there was a warrant for his arrest.
The real crook was wanted for a 2012 rape.
He absconded from bail and stole Piotr’s identity.
Piotr also found out his fingerprints — on the police computer after a 2005 drink driving conviction — had somehow been added to the wanted man’s profile.
It was only when cops looked at the mugshot on file that they freed Piotr.
He said: “When I tell people I keep getting arrested they usually think it’s funny, but I promise you it is not a laughing matter.
“My wife and kids have to watch me being handcuffed and led away in front of thousands of other passengers.
“Sometimes I’m stopped at customs, sometimes at check in, and sometimes I’m taken off the plane.
“The crimes they are accusing me of are horrifying. There has to be a way to fix this.”
