Efforts to clear roads and maintain safety
In response, fire services teams have been actively working to clear blocked roads. A video posted by ANI captures fire service members battling strong winds as they remove uprooted trees obstructing pathways. “Roads are being cleared by the fire services team as trees are uprooted in Bhadrak’s Dhamra due to gusty winds and rain,” ANI reported.
Heavy rainfall and visuals of the storm’s aftermath
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has been closely monitoring Cyclone Dana as it moves northwestward at 12 kmph. According to IMD, “The severe cyclonic storm ‘Dana’ moved north-northwestwards with a speed of 12 kmph and lay centred over north coastal Odisha, about 15 km north of Dhamara and 30 km north-northwest of Habalikhati nature camp (Bhitarkanika).” IMD noted that Cyclone Dana is expected to gradually weaken into a cyclonic storm as it continues its path across Odisha.
PTI also shared a video highlighting the intensity of the storm, showcasing heavy rainfall and gusty winds in Bhadrak’s Dhamra village. In Rajnagar, Kendrapara district, a local journalist posted visuals showing uprooted trees, a clear sign of the storm’s impact on the area.
The IMD, in continuous observation using Doppler weather radar at Paradip, expects Cyclone Dana to weaken further as it moves inland, reducing the likelihood of additional severe damage.
