Cringe or clean fun? Springbok fan trolls Ireland squad [video]

A Springbok supporter is accused of unnecessarily trolling the Ireland rugby squad during a fan encounter ahead of their second test match in Durban this weekend.

In fact, some South Africans have accused the young man of being “disrespectful.”

The rugby rivals will face off on Saturday, 13 July, at Kings Park Stadium.

SPRINGBOK FAN TROLLS IRELAND: CLEAN FUN OR CRINGE?

In a post shared on the Instagram account @schoolboyrugga, a young rugby fan is seen approaching the Ireland squad players for a quick photo opportunity.

In the clip, players – who graciously agreed – were seen seated at a restaurant, enjoying hot beverages.

However, the fan encounter took an unexpected turn when the young man unzipped his hoodie to reveal a Springboks rugby shirt underneath.

The players did not object and continued to smile for the camera.

In the comments section, many South Africans praised their opponents and scolded the young Springbok fan over the move.

@thomas_storm1: “Don’t do that stuff; we’re good fans here”

@junlucas.q: “That’s not cool, bru. The whole damn team took their time of day to pose for a photo with you, and you pulled that. They didn’t have to do that”.

@roos.jd: “So uncalled for. Coming from a fellow South African.”

@plzbarewitme: “As a Springbok fan, that was onoodig [unneccessary].”

Meanwhile, others claimed it was just jest for the rugby rivals.

@runningflyhalf: “I don’t understand why anyone considers this disrespectful. Good, clean banter.”

@kikidee86: “Lighten up, it’s funny! No harm or disrespect was intended.”

SAFFA SPOTTED AT ALL BLACKS GAME

Meanwhile, another Springbok supporter showed his love for his team while halfway across the world.

On social media, a screenshot of a young boy spotted at an All Blacks match against England in New Zealand over the weekend went viral.

In the image, the young supporter showed off his green and gold jersey in a sea of black and white ones.

“Spotted at the All Blacks game,” read a post by Rugby Mad.
