Crime prevention operations in S’gor intensified during the holiday season

PETALING JAYA: Crime prevention operations at known hotspots in Selangor will continue throughout the holiday season through to the New Year.

Selangor Deputy Police Chief Deputy Comm Datuk Sasikala Devi Subramaniam, said the Selangor police are focusing on reducing incidences of break-ins, vehicle thefts, and similar street crimes.

“This operation will focus on all hotspot areas, including residential areas, commercial places such as banks and shopping complexes. Traffic control will also be intensified at strategic areas,” she said on Wednesday (Dec 25).

Patrols will be increased, both in vehicles and on foot, DCP Sasikala added.

“The mobile patrol vehicle (MPV) units will have increased patrols to monitor residential and high-risk locations. Additional police personnel will be deployed in areas with high foot traffic, such as tourist attractions and recreational spots, to prevent snatch theft crimes,” she said.

DCP Sasikala also urged the community to report any suspicious activities immediately.

“Everyone is urged to continue collaborating with PDRM in safeguarding our shared security. Use the Volunteer Smartphone Patrol (VSP) app to inform the police if residents will be away from their homes for the long holidays.

The Selangor contingent is committed to ensuring that the Christmas celebrations and school holidays proceed peacefully, allowing the public to enjoy their time with ease,” she said.
