Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Kriti Sanon‘s film, Crew, is on an impressive streak at the box office, defying expectations and even major releases like Ajay Devgn‘s Maidaan and Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff‘s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. Described by Kareena as a female-centric comedy heist in the vein of Ocean’s 11 and Ocean’s 8, the film continues to captivate audiences, proving its resilience against tough competition and the passage of time.
The film entered the third weekend on a slow note where it earned only Rs 83 lakhs which was a 28 percent drop from its Thursday collection of Rs 1.15 crore. But the film picked up pace Saturday and Sunday, where it collected Rs 1.54 crore and Rs 1.75 crore respectively, taking the weekend total to Rs 4.12 crore and overall collection to Rs 69.02 crore. Thanks to the present trend, the film is expected to cross the Rs 70 crore mark before the end of its fourth weekend. In less than 18 days, Crew has gone on to become the 9th highest grossing female led film, beating movies like Dear Zindagi, Pink and Queen.
Crew was expected to take a beating at the box office thanks to the release of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Maidaan, in fact the showcasing of the film was also impacted as screens were given to the two biggies. But both big films failed to draw in huge crowds and the exhibitors were able to shift many screens to Crew. The third weekend business will give a major boost to the future prospects of Crew, as there are no major releases in the coming days. The only films lined up for release in the next few weeks are Dibakaer Banerjee’s LSD 2 and Ayush Sharma’s Ruslaan.
