A COUPLE have clocked up more than 37,000 miles holidaying in the same Cornish resort for the past 57 years.
Colin and Doreen Hunt have eschewed the delights of Blackpool close to home in favour of peaceful Bude.
They first visited in 1967 and have not missed their annual pilgrimage since — despite the 650-mile trip, which before motorways used to take 12 hours each way.
Their son, a baby during their first visit, learned to walk there and his older sister loved it so much she has gone to live there.
Colin, 87, and Doreen, 88, have travelled all over the world but insisted: “We’ve never been to a better place for a family holiday.”
The couple, from Preston, were drawn to the north Cornwall town because of its renowned beaches.
They even took up surfing, for years using a home-made belly board.
Another attraction is the South West Coast path, which they had completed, albeit in stages, by 2000.
Doreen added: “Bude has everything.”
