Cook a delicious joint of roast beef in 21 minutes with no oven

A classic option for a Sunday roast, beef is hard to beat when it has that melt-in-the-mouth texture.

Mastering it is easier said than done when it comes to cooking, which is why many people save it for special occasions or avoid home-cooked roast beef altogether.

But that doesn’t have to be the case, according to Philips Airfryer chef, Martin Senders, who has shared his speedy recipe exclusively with Express.co.uk.

His delicious roast beef for two uses an air fryer rather than traditional oven-cooking methods to achieve perfect results.

The recipe calls upon eight flavoursome ingredients, including salt and pepper, and takes a mere 21 minutes to cook the meat.

Method

First, take the joint of beef out of the fridge and leave it on a plate on the kitchen counter uncovered, to bring it up to room temperature.

Meanwhile, make the marinade sauce by combining the olive oil, red wine, herb mix, salt and pepper in a bowl.

Mix everything until well combined, then rub all over the beef using your hands. Now place the beef back in the fridge for at least two hours to marinate.

As the beef marinates, prepare the vegetables that will infuse the beef with even more flavour while it cooks. Cut the whole garlic tuber horizontally, then peel and divide the onion into quarters.

After the two hours are up, carefully transfer the beef joint to the air fryer basket and add the prepared onion and garlic.

Slide the basket into the air fryer and set to cook at 180C for just 11 minutes. Reduce the temperature to 160C then cook again for 10 more minutes.

Martin warned: “The cooking time can be changed based on the thickness of the roast beef. Please check whilst cooking, this recipe is for medium well-done.”

When the beef is cooked to your desired taste, remove it from the fryer, carve it into slices and serve.
