Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly, who was earlier charged with rape allegations, has received immense support after he filed an FIR stating that the allegations against him are ‘baseless.’
The Malayalam film industry has been at the epicenter since the release of the Hema Committee report. Prominent figures like Ranjith Balakrishnan, Siddique, and senior actor Mohanlal have resigned from their positions amidst the turmoil in Mollywood over sexual allegations involving actors, directors, and producers. Another notable name is Premam actor Nivin Pauly, who recently made headlines after a middle-aged woman accused him of rape. Several directors and actors have now come together to address the allegations against Pauly.
Nivin Pauly’s Co-stars Defend Actor Amid Sexual Assault Allegations
Following the support from many including film director Vineeth Sreenivasan, actor Bhagath Manuel, and TV personality Parvathy Krishna, there is a growing body of evidence that may exonerate him. This comes on the heels of the recent scandalous revelation where an anonymous woman leveled sexual assault allegations against popular actor Nivin.
According to what his co-stars have shared, Nivin was on the ‘Varshangalkku Shesham’ set when the reported incident occurred. Actor Parvathy Krishna went on Instagram to clarify that Nivin was indeed with her on set on the specified dates. She backed up her statement with a video and a picture of her and Nivin on set, revealing that they were both involved in shooting specific scenes on those days. Even though her role in the film was small, she felt compelled to share her side of the story, emphasising the need for honesty.
Actor Bhagath Manuel who was involved in the making of this film disclosed on his social media platforms that the film’s shooting went non-stop from the early hours of 8 a.m. on December 14, extending all the way to 3 a.m. the next day. He even shared pictures to give a glimpse into the intense filming session. Vineeth Sreenivasan, Nivin’s debut movie director, has confirmed the actor’s presence in Kochi for the detailed dates. Additionally, they have extra photographic evidence and video footage to support this claim.
What Exactly Happened In Nivin Pauly’s Sexual Allegation Case?
Nivin Pauly had earlier denied the allegations labelled against him as a plot, clarifying that he had no relationship with the lady filing the complaint. He took the plans to tackle the issue legally and put stress on the fact that the complaint lacked evidence and it was ‘baseless’. However, the actor also took a step forward and filed an FIR on the woman making sexual allegations against him to the Kerala Police. The recent disclosure by the three-member Justice Hema Committee on August 19 has brought to light some unsettling incidences of sexual harassment and gender discrimination in the Malayalam film industry.
