Varun Dhawan, Samantha, Sikandar Kher, Shivankit Singh Parihar and child actor Kashvi Majmundar along with director duo Raj and DK (Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK), writer Sita Menon and others launched the trailer of their action-packed web series Citadel: Honey Bunny in Mumbai. Varun Dhawan grabbed everyone’s attention as he spoke about struggling with getting action roles.
While talking about Citadel: Honey Bunny, Varun Dhawan also mentioned his upcoming action entertainer, Baby John, made by South producer Atlee and South director Kalees. When asked about his experience on Citadel: Honey Bunny, Varun Dhawan replied, “I had a great time. It was a wakeup call for me. I hope that a lot of people take notice of it. Right now, I feel that only the South Indians are taking notice of me and giving me great opportunities in action!”
He continued, “The reason I am saying this is that during lockdown, I got a chance to play badminton with Aditya Chopra. Maneesh Sharma was also there, and they were making Tiger 3 (2023) at that time. I asked Adi, ‘Why can’t you take younger action talent for an action film? Why don’t you take me?’. He replied, ‘I want to give you acting roles. I don’t want to give you action’. I, however, kept persuading him.”

Varun Dhawan then stated, “Then he said, ‘I can’t give you that budget right now. You have not reached that place’. I kept thinking about what he said. Then I messaged him, ‘Sir what is the budget?’. He gave me a figure and said, ‘This is the budget you need to make something big in the action space’.”
Coming back to Citadel: Honey Bunny, Varun Dhawan explained, “When this opportunity came, I asked the makers what the budget was. They don’t want me to say all this (smiles)! I am really grateful to them for giving me this platform. That is needed to make things look big and for actors to look larger than life.”
