Varun Dhawan, Samantha, director duo Raj Nidimoru-Krishna DK, writer Sita Menon and Nikhil Madhok of Amazon Prime Video attended the teaser launch of Citadel: Honey Bunny in Mumbai. Varun and Samantha spoke highly of each other with Varun also sharing about the long one-take action scene they did together.

Varun revealed, “I think we have an 11 or 12-minute one-take action scene.” Samantha continued, “Both of us, the cameraman etc. have to be in absolute sync. I never felt that kind of chemistry with anyone. And I believe it shows. That action sequence is truly special.”
During the Q-and-A session with the media, Varun Dhawan was asked about this long one-take shot. He revealed, “More than difficult, it was challenging. When they (Raj and DK) told us about it, which they called a ‘one-er’, Samantha and I asked, ‘Yeh karenge kaise?’. We knew it would require a lot of rehearsal because there are different parts to the sequence. This scene is shot in a haveli. As we keep moving, things get more difficult. There are bombs exploding, there are grenades that we are throwing, and they are bursting in real time. It’s a very scientific process, a very technical thing.”
Krishna DK stated, “We had really good hidden action talent in both of them. They had to do the stunts. There were no doubles and they were up for it.”
Varun Dhawan also spoke highly about Samantha for working in such a challenging show despite battling myositis. He said, “My preparation was nothing compared to Samantha’s because it was public knowledge what she was battling with when she got onto this show. I thought I was having a hard time when I started rehearsing. But then when I’d see the work ethic that this girl had and what she was battling, that really inspired me. We became partners in making things happen. I have never been in a film or show where I have seen a co-actor go through something. You learn so much about human beings when you see someone battling something and winning. She has inspired all of us as this is an action show.”
Samantha smiled at these words and added, “As he said, it was like a partnership. When we’d do action, it felt like a dance and a romantic song because there was so much synchronization. Raj-DK, being Raj-DK, they love long shots!”
Another memorable episode of the event was when Varun and Samantha threw the Citadel: Honey Bunny merchandise to the audience using a gun.
Citadel: Honey Bunny premieres on Amazon Prime Video on November 7.
