On Thursday, the makers of the highly-anticipated web-series Citadel: Honey Bunny revealed a series of exciting updates. While they unveiled the official premiere date of the show, they also unveiled the first teaser, as well as dropped two new songs from the show. The announcements have sparked a buzz among fans, who eagerly await to see the fresh pairing of Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu on screen. While the event held many interesting updates with the entire team of the film sharing their experiences, musical duo Sachin-Jigar too took the stage at the launch.
Citadel: Honey Bunny composers Sachin-Jigar open up about the first song ‘Yeh Safar’ from the Varun Dhawan, Samantha Ruth Prabhu starrer; say, “Raj & DK are very bold and brave”
The composers along with singers Priya Saraiya and Shilpa Rao, mesmerized the audience with a live performance of their first song from the show, ‘Yeh Safar’. This track is a romantic ballad that tells the love story of Honey and Bunny, played by Varun Dhawan and Samantha Prabhu. The song captures the essence of true love, showing how the journey of two souls remains connected, even when separated by unfortunate incidents. The melody and lyrics of the song aim at conveying the emotions of love and separation.
Speaking about the song and their collaboration with directors Raj & DK, Sachin-Jigar said, “Our journey with Raj & DK began with ‘Saibo’ in Shor In The City (2010) and continued with Go Goa Gone (2013), Stree (2018), as well as web-series like The Family Man, Farzi, and now Citadel: Honey Bunny. As a creative team, we’ve never truly had a chance to thank all of you, fans. This romantic song from the show is simply a thank-you note from us, Raj & DK, Priya, and Shilpa.”
The song, sung by Sachin-Jigar and Shilpa Rao, was composed by the duo and penned by Priya Saraiya. In addition to ‘Yeh Safar‘, another song, which is the title track of the show, was also performed live by new talents Subham and Shruti, along with Ash King. Sachin-Jigar went on to add, “Raj & DK are very bold and brave, and the proof is that whenever we have worked together, we have always been able to bring forth a new voice and new talent and this New Title Track from Citadel is a perfect example of it”.
Citadel: Honey Bunny, the Indian spin-off of the American series, is produced by Russo Brothers and will also star Saqib Saleem, Kay Kay Menon, and Sikandar Kher in key roles. It is expected to premiere on September 9 on Amazon Prime Video.
