Chennai launches new EV charging stations by DJT Haika and SmileXEV to support eco-friendly transport, with plans to expand across Tamil Nadu for sustainable travel.
Rajya Sabha Member Kanimozhi N.V.N. Somu unveiled electric vehicle (EV) charging stations by DJT Haika and SmileXEV at an event in Chennai on Monday.
She highlighted the urgent need for sustainable transport in the city, where vehicle numbers have skyrocketed. Charging stations, she said, will power eco-friendly electric vehicles, helping to reduce pollution, according to Deccan Herald.
North Chennai MP Kalanidhi Veerasamy, after launching the SmileXEV website and mobile app, stressed that electric vehicles are the future of sustainable transport. He praised both SmileXEV and DJT Haika for developing locally-made direct current (DC) charging machines in three sizes, suitable for all EVs.
Sanjay Kumar, CEO of DJT Haika, announced that the company, through SmileXEV, has also launched alternating current (AC) charging stations, with plans to expand them across Tamil Nadu.
