Following the Union Budget 2024, where Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharama announced a customs duty cut of 15 percent on phones and chargers, Apple iPhone prices in India dropped by 3-4 percent across its whole portfolio. While the price cut on base non-Pro models is almost minor (Rs 300), the cut on high-end Pro models is up to Rs 6,000. Let’s take a look at the new prices of iPhones currently available on Apple’s official store in India.
Apple iPhones price in India dropped
Experts have highlighted a dramatic shift, with Apple lowering the cost of its Pro models for the first time. This adjustment follows a cut in the basic customs charge on mobile phones from 20 percent to 15 percent in the recent budget.
Traditionally, Apple discontinues previous Pro models after the release of new ones, with dealers and resellers offering only selected discounts to clear inventory. However, this lower customs charge appears to have influenced Apple’s new approach to pricing its Pro models, establishing a precedent for its pricing policy, reports the Economic Times.
Following this, Apple has already updated its website with the iPhone’s new prices. The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models have received discounts of up to Rs 6,000. In comparison, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus received lower discounts of only Rs 300.
