A FORMER Old Firm youth player has was targeted in an alleged prison battering while serving a six-year sentence over a drunken hit-and-run death.
Disgraced Ciaran Dickson, 22-year-old, who is also a convicted domestic abuser, was jailed earlier this year over the death of teenager Aidan Pilkington in Glasgow.
Dickson, a former Celtic B team player, was involved in an alleged “disturbance” with a fellow inmates at HMP Barlinnie earlier this month.
He was taken to hospital for injuries.
A source told the Record: “He’s been rubbing people up the wrong way in jail.
“Barlinnie is home to some serious criminals and it’s no surprise that he’s been left with a sore face. He was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth and given treatment.
“Apparently he broke his jaw and was kept in hospital for a bit before being released.”
Another source added: “Trouble seems to follow him about and it was only a matter of time before something serious like this happened.
“Maybe it will make him think twice about how he acts going forward, especially amongst other criminals.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a disturbance within HMP Barlinnie on Monday, December 9, 2024.
“A 22-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment. Enquiries are ongoing.”
A spokesperson for the Scottish Prison Service said: “We do not comment on individuals.”
We previously told how Dickson, 22, was jailed for six years after killing Aidan, 18, in Glasgow’s Anniesland on September 11, 2021.
Dickson got behind the wheel after consuming a number of beers and cocktails with a friend.
The former football player later raced down a road where Aidan was crossing and dragged him along the ground.
Dickson — also a former Rangers youth star – then fled the scene and abandoned his rented Mercedes car close to his home.
Aidan suffered significant head injuries which he succumbed to later in hospital.
Dickson pleaded guilty at the High Court in Glasgow to causing death by dangerous driving.
