Cat tests positive for rabies two weeks after being taken to N.J. shelter

Camden County officials announced Tuesday that a stray cat delivered to a Voorhees animal shelter in May had a confirmed case of rabies.

The cat was brought to the animal shelter on May 23 and started exhibiting symptoms about on June 5, officials from the Camden County Health Department said in a press release Tuesday.

The cat was tested at the state Public Health & Environmental Laboratories in Trenton and the Camden County Department of Health and Human Services was notified on June 10 that the cat tested positive for rabies.
