STRONG WINDS BLOW VEHICLE AT HUGUENOT TUNNEL

In the short video, a motorist films the strong wind, causing difficult driving conditions.

Strong wind turns the driving direction of the motorist in front of the driver filming and eventually blows the vehicle down a tunnel.

The damaging wind also turns the direction of a bakkie also at the Huguenot Tunnel.

It is not yet clear what happened to the motorist whose vehicle was blown off by the wind.

Meanwhile, another video of a truck trailer component being blown off as it approached the Huguenot Tunnel is circulating on social media.

The incident reportedly happened on Saturday, 6 April.

In the video, a strong wind blows the truck off its wheels, lying on the road on its side, and another truck approaching the tunnel sways with the wind and falls off the bridge.

SAWS ISSUES SEVERAL WARNINGS FOR THE CAPE

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) had forecast near-gale to gale force winds, with speeds of 62-80km/h and gusts up to 90-100km/h, over the City of Cape Town, Cape Winelands, and the Overberg from Saturday evening through Sunday.

The weather service said the prolonged duration of these winds is a cause for concern, as they could potentially lead to significant impacts.

On Saturday, the weather service had also warned that a combination of strong to near-gale / gale force winds and other weather conditions will lead to low water levels, resulting in a negative storm surge along the south-west to south-east coastline of South Africa in places between Western Cape and Eastern Cape.
