Former Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan, who owns every significant passing record in team history and is seventh all-time in passing yards, will be inducted into the Falcons Ring of Honor at halftime of tonight’s game.
Ryan, who spent 14 years in Atlanta after being drafted No. 3 in 2008, said before the game that he is most proud of the consistency and toughness he showed during his career.
“There were not many games that were missed and there were a lot of times that wasn’t comfortable,” he said. “I took it very seriously to be out there week in and week out.”
Ryan, who wore the No. 2 jersey, started 222 regular season games for the team before being traded to Indianapolis following the 2021 season. He is now a studio analyst for CBS.
“It’s just crazy that as long as they’ll play games my name will be up there. I’m really proud of that,” he said. “It’s a great night, and I’m really excited to be here. It’s crazy to me because I still feel like the 22-year-old kid who got drafted here in 2008. It goes by really, really quick. It’s special to be back in the building tonight.”
