Brits baffled by ‘Viennetta on a stick’ – but want to try

British ice cream giant Wall’s first launched Viennetta in 1982 and it went on to become the dessert of choice for many with a sweet tooth around the world.

The treat’s unique design features several layers of soft ice cream sandwiched between crisp layers of chocolate. Its crunch is enough to make any mouth water.

Commonly served in slices for everyone to tuck into, it now appears Wall’s has given Viennetta lovers the opportunity to go it alone by serving it up as an individual portion on a stick.

Sharing a snap of one on X (formerly Twitter), an excited Brit simply penned in shock, “WHAT?”, before agreeing with a sceptic who cursed: “I can almost guarantee this is only available in countries that are not the UK. It’s like Wall’s are taunting us.”

Scores more said they were looking forward to the prospect of tucking into one themselves, meanwhile, as another X user joked: “Thank you stranger on Twitter, my risk of self induced diabetes grows ever more likely.”

A third person quipped: “When Kate Moss said ‘Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels’, they hadn’t yet invented VIENNETTA ON A STICK.” A fourth joked: “Further proof that the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards progress.”

And a fifth asked in anticipation: “Do they do these here? I’ve never seen them. My kids love Viennetta because my mum used to get it for them as an after school treat when she looked after them, they would lose their minds at Viennetta on a stick!”

Much to the frustrations of those above, it appears Wall’s is yet to roll out the product on our shores. Supermarket Aldi couldn’t help but spot the conversation though – and offered a solution to impatient Brits.

After a photo was shared in the comments section of the German firm’s Mini Viennese vanilla ice creams, Aldi simply penned, “Holly knows” in response.

“Aldi have had them for years, including mint and strawberry flavours too!” explained another X user. “Aldi do mini versions of this, the mint one is banging and only 87 calories,” added a second person in the know.
