Mr Watt’s dad, Jim, was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, months after Watt tragically lost one of his closest pals earlier this year to the same type of cancer.

It comes after Watt said the news had hit his family “like a sledgehammer” as he issued a heartbreaking statement on social media.

He revealed his family’s shock over the diagnosis as his dad had been leading a healthy life and working full-time up until June.

He is now at Roxburghe House in Aberdeen where tragically he is receiving end of life care.

The 42-year-old entrepreneur took to his social media accounts, to announce the devastating news.

He wrote: “I shared my father’s sudden cancer diagnosis a few weeks back and I was incredibly grateful to have received so many amazing messages and treatment suggestions – thank you.

“Up until the start of June my father was as a full-time lobster fisherman, hauling 300 lobster pots per day on the North Atlantic – he was fitter and stronger than me.

“On 22nd June he was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

“It was a diagnosis I was sadly all too familiar with, having lost my dear friend Dan Bolton to the same illness only in January.

He added: “Only a few days after his diagnosis, my dad received chemotherapy in London and was in high spirits and we even escaped from the hospital one evening to enjoy duck pancakes at The Dorchester. It was a special memory.

“I can’t believe how quickly this has gone and that only a few weeks ago he was feeling fit, healthy and catching hundreds of lobsters a day on his boat, The Serene, with his trusty labrador Jura by his side.

“The photos show some of the highlights of an incredibly difficult few weeks including my dad beating me at Scrabble (twice!), dinner at the Dorchester, a picnic at the hospice and Sunday lunch with the family.

“Dad, I love you and you have been the most amazing dad ever.”

Followers of the millionaire were quick to react to the tragic news.

One user wrote: “Gosh you’re so strong James. How lucky is he to have you by his side and blessed that he got to watch you succeed in your life. God bless him and praying for both of you.”

One added: “So sorry James but you are making the most of your time together and creating wonderful memories.”

Another wrote: “I am so sorry to read this. Life is so cruel. Enjoy every day with your dad, continue to take pictures, videos while you can, you will cherish these memories. Sending you all strength and love. Keep strong.”

Back in May, Watt announced he was stepping down as CEO of BrewDog after 17 years.

But he confirmed he would remain as a board member and director while handing control over to Chief Operating Officer James Arrow.

We told recently how Watt had launched of his new marketing platform, Social Tip, as his first venture since stepping back from the beer brand.

Outspoken BrewDog was started in a garage by James and pal Martin Dickie and has since grown into one of the world’s biggest booze brands.

The company is now estimated to be worth a staggering £1.6billion, BrewDog.

In June, it revealed they lost £26million last year.
