On January 1, 2024, Gurugram model Divya Pahuja went out to celebrate the New Year but never returned home.
Divya Pahuja, a model from Gurugram became the center of a shocking case that rattled Delhi-NCR and Haryana. After a turbulent relationship with gangster Sandeep Gadoli, who was killed in a police encounter, Divya began dating Abhijeet, the owner of Hotel City Point, unaware of the dangers ahead.
On January 1, 2024, Divya went out to celebrate the New Year but never returned home. Her family’s search led them to a hotel room where her body was later found in a canal.
Divya, who lived with her parents and sister Naina in Baldev Nagar, started her career in IT before pursuing modeling. Her life changed drastically after her relationship with Sandeep Gadoli, who was killed in 2016. Following his death, she faced scrutiny from the police and was imprisoned for seven years, eventually released on bail in June 2023.
After her release, Divya began dating Abhijeet, but their relationship soured when she allegedly blackmailed him for Rs30 lakh.
On New Year’s Eve, after a party with friends, Divya and Abhijeet left for a hotel. The next day, Abhijeet emerged drunk, claiming there was a dead body in the hotel. The staff called the police but they found nothing in the room Abhijeet mentioned.
Later, Abhijeet returned with friends and directed staff to move Divya’s body which they discovered in another room. Divya’s sister Naina reported her missing, prompting the police to investigate further. CCTV footage showed Divya entering the room.
The police found the scene chaotic and arrested hotel staff Hemraj and Omprakash. Abhijeet was apprehended at home, where he confessed to killing Divya in a fit of rage after she demanded money.
On January 2, Abhijeet’s friends disposed of Divya’s body in the Bhakra Canal, where it was found ten days later. Abhijeet and several other suspects have since been arrested and the case is currently in court.
