COPS have launched a desperate search for a 17-year-old boy after he reportedly fell into a lake at a popular beauty spot.
Staffordshire Police were called to Rudyard Lake in Staffordshire, last night after three young men, believed to be about 17 years old, were spotted in the water.
Two of them managed to get out and were assessed by paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service before being taken to hospital.
But cops confirmed that the third teenager is still missing.
The popular beauty spot has since been shut off “until further notice” following the incident with all footpaths taped off.
Witnesses reported seeing officers, firefighters and paramedics at Rudyard Lake overnight.
In a statement, cops confirmed that a large number of emergency services are currently at the scene.
The force has urged the public to stay away from the area this morning while an investigation is ongoing.
One guest at the adjoining Hotel Rudyard – which can be accessed along with its car park – said: “I was in my room and noticed firefighters and an ambulance last night.”
Organisers with the Rudyard Lake Trust, which manages the site, issued an update to visitors on their Facebook page on Sunday.
It said: “Due to an incident overnight the Lake and surrounding area has been closed until further notice to both pedestrians and vehicles.
“Our car park and facilities have been shutdown until further notice. Thanks in anticipation for your understanding.”
