The City of Boston and Office of LGBTQ+ Advancement will formerly kick off a month of Pride festivities with a flag raising at City Hall on Monday.
The LGBTQ+ flag raising, a yearly tradition at the start of June in Boston, will start at 11 a.m. Monday in City Hall Plaza. The event will feature remarks from Boston Pride 4 The People — which has hosted the last couple Boston Pride parades — Road of Rainbows, Museum of Science and performances.
City officials said they will be “hosting, supporting and amplifying events that serve the local Queer community” throughout the month.
This year Pride month also marks 20 years since the Supreme Court ruled in favor of same-sex marriage equality.
The Pride Parade will be on June 8 at 11 a.m. and wind from Boylston Street in Copley Square to the Boston Common at Charles Street. Festivities will continue with festivals in the Common and City Hall Plaza.
The City will host and promote other events through the month, including the LGBTQ+ Older Adult Pride Luncheon at Venezia Restaurant on June 5 and an queer focused event “STEM and Beyond” at the Museum of Science on June 22.
