‘Bond of Harmony…’: President Murmu, PM Modi’s Message of Unity to India on Eid-Ul-Adha

President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday greeted people on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha and said that the people of the country should come and work together for the nation’s development and welfare.

“This festival inspires us for selfless service to humanity,” the president said. “On this occasion, let us take a pledge to work together for the development and welfare of our nation,” Murmu said.

The president has extended greetings on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha “to all fellow citizens and Indians abroad, especially our Muslim brothers and sisters”, a statement by the Rashtrapati Bhawan added.

Prime Minister Modi, who recently took the oath of office for the third term, also wished people on Eid-ul-Adha and said the occasion will further cement the bond of harmony in the society.

“Greetings on Eid-ul-Adha! May this special occasion further cement the bonds of harmony and togetherness in our society. May everyone be happy and healthy,” PM Modi wrote on X.

Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee also greeted people on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha. “Eid Mubarak! Greetings to all on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha,” Banerjee said on X.

One of the biggest Islamic holidays, Eid-ul-Adha commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s test of faith through slaughtering livestock and animals and distributing the meat to the poor.

It’s a joyous occasion for which food is a hallmark where devout Muslims buy and slaughter animals and share two-thirds of the meat with the poor and it’s a revered observance that coincides with the final rites of the Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.
