The Bollywood Hungama OTT Fest, held on October 3, 2024 at Taj Lands End, Mumbai brought together leading figures from the entertainment world to examine the fast-paced evolution of India’s OTT platforms. Over the course of two days, celebrities engaged in thought-provoking discussions on the shifting dynamics of digital content creation.
Bollywood Hungama OTT India Fest 2024: Krystle D’Souza discusses the differences between working in OTT, film, and TV: “You don’t feel like you’re satisfied”
Krystal highlighted the importance of immersing in characters across different mediums, stating that the journey matters more than the time spent. She contrasted the structured narratives of OTT and films with the ongoing nature of television, expressing a preference for the former due to the satisfaction derived from well-rounded storytelling.
Krystle said, “Whatever projects you are doing whether it’s OTT or a movie, you should never forget that you are an actor and as an actor, you’re living that character for those many years. So it’s not the duration, it’s the journey from point A to point B. That’s what I personally feel. For me, doesn’t matter shooting for seven days, 10 days, 15 days, or I’m shooting a movie for 40 days, or I’m shooting a short film for three days, which I’ve done. When you’re working, you kind of forget the medium. Like my recent film that I did for OTT, I had 10-20, days of work, but it was a film. You forget the medium once you’re on set. You shoot episode wise, episode one, episode two, you’re shooting the entire script.”
She continued, “In a film or OTT or a theatrical film, whatever it could be a series, it could be a film, it could be a reality, whatever. So in television, I guess you have to keep shooting and shooting. I don’t think I can do it. Also never ending, and you don’t have a crisp story like on OTT films. You know, this is the beginning, this is the middle, this is the end. There is no script whatsoever. And you don’t even get that much time to prep. You don’t feel like you’re satisfied at the end of the day, because you know that you didn’t get that much time to prep. So I think that is the only reason I would choose to do OTT films or shows. To do a TV show that’s great., I always wonder when I’m in television, I always think about it must be exciting, what it’s like going to office, like every day.”
