The Bollywood Hungama OTT India Fest and the India Entertainment Awards, held on October 3 and 4 brought together industry stalwarts and fresh talent, offering a vibrant platform for discourse on the evolving landscape of digital entertainment. Held at the Taj Lands End in Mumbai, the first look of ZEE5’s second season of Mithya was unveiled amidst the big crowd. Present at the launch were actors Huma Qureshi, Avantika Dasani, Naveen Kasturia, director Kapil Sharma and producers Sameer Nair and Goldie Behl. The second season of the psychological drama revolves around the tumultuous relationship between two half-sisters, marked by ambition, betrayal, and revenge.

During the conversation, the host told Avantika that after witnessing her performance in the first season, she doubted if she is like her character in real life. This made Avantika happy as she said, “Thank you so much. That is such an amazing compliment to have, be it my first project to play someone as crazy as Rhea is. And to be appreciated in that format. So much so that my family and friends growing up with me and asking me, ‘Is there things about you that we don’t know?’ after watching that and started doubting if I am a little too wild on the other side. But no, (I am) pretty much sane up here, so far.”
When it was pointed out to her that her debut was too unconventional, Avantika was quick to add, “Doesn’t it make it more exciting and memorable? That’s something that makes me standout because there is such great talent, shows, movies. How can I be more memorable, make myself and position myself in the industry?”
When it was Huma’s chance to speak, she pulled Avantika’s leg saying, “Avantika tune kitne paise khilaye hain? Sirf teri taareef ho rahi hai? (On a serious note) No, it was really wonderful working with her. What I love about Avantika is that she is so committed to doing her best. And even if you feel like there is not a lot of experience, but her drive to give your best shot, it never falters. It’s in season 2 as well. She even tried to outdo herself from season 1. I think if you have loved her in season one, you will love her even more in season 2.”
Mithya is an adaptation of a British television show called Cheat. Interestingly, the original show hasn’t had a season 2. Speaking on this, Goldie Behl said, “Well, we had the same characters going forward and naturally how they would progress. We came up with a bunch of ideas of how these characters can proceed ahead. We zeroed it down on a storyline, which I am not allowed to reveal out because it’s a suspense thriller. As Huma said, it’s far more crazier and whacko.”
