The Bollywood Hungama India Entertainment Awards 2024, which was held on October 4, 2024 at Taj Lands End, Mumbai was a rocking affair for many reasons. The awards night began with a bang with the winning speech by Tillottama Shome.

Tillottama Shome won the award for Best Actor (Female) – Original Series – People’s Choice for her bravura performances in Kota Factory Season 3 and Tribhuvan Mishra CA Topper. As soon as she came on stage, the microphone stopped working. The much-loved host Maniesh Paul quipped, “Mic ki bolti bandh ho gayi. Acche performer aate hai toh aisa hota hai. Ghabrana nahin hai!”
He gave Tillottama Shome his own microphone. She began her speech by saying, “Thank you Bollywood Hungama for this (award). I am getting this award for Kota Factory as well as Tribhuvan Mishra CA Topper. I want to thank the director of Kota Factory, Pratish Mehta, who is here and our producer, TVF. I also want to thank the creator of Tribhuvan Mishra CA Topper, Puneet Krishna, who’s also here with us, and the wonderful producer Ram Sampath.”
Tillottama Shome then took a dig at the statement made by The Film Federation of India (FFI) while sending Laapataa Ladies as India’s official entry to the Oscars. Explaining why the Aamir Khan-backed film is the apt film to be sent for the Academy Awards, the FFI stated that “Indian women are a strange mix of submission and dominance”.
On this, Tillottama said, “We have heard recently that Indian women are a strange mixture of submission and dominance. I just want to clarify that thankfully, Pooja Didi (her character in Kota Factory Season 3) and Bindi Jain (her character in Tribhuvan Mishra CA Topper) are neither submissive nor dominant. They are actually complex women with great agency. I am very privileged to play them, and I am very happy to get this award for playing women who have…strength.” As expected, there was a thunderous applause for her powerful speech.
The other nominees in the category of Best Actor (Female) – Original Series – People’s Choice were Aditi Rao Hydari (Heeramandi), Konkona Sen Sharma (Mumbai Diaries S2), Neena Gupta (Panchayat S3) and Sobhita Dhulipala (Made In Heaven S2).
