“When the constitution was made, India’s population was 40 crore, today it is 140 crore. We have still become one of the strongest democracies in the world,” said Yadav.
The minister attacked the opposition saying that a few people keep a copy of the Constitution in their pockets, which is not even original. Showing the original Constitution, Yadav said that the book contains illustrations throughout its pages. He further pointed out to the illustrations that have been displayed in each of the chapters.
Quoting the opening page, “Satyamev Jayate”, translating to victory of the truth. He said that the people of the country stuck to the principle of Satyamev Jayate and voted for the BJP in the last three elections.
Talking about the illustrations, he said “Part-I, which says “India that is Bharat”, talks about India’s federal structure. It has an illustration of India.”
Part-II has Vedic Gurukul illustration. He said that this is done because India’s civilisation is ancient, and is based on cultural values. Part-III has the illustration of Lord Ram going from the south to north. The illustration has both Lord Ram and Sita. It is because the constitution gives rights to all. “We have seen in the past the some people wanted to take away the rights of the citizens.” He said that the Congress had the Chief Justice that they wanted during the time of emergency and take away the fundamental rights of the citizens.
Further, Par-IV talks about governance and has the illustration of Lord Krishna and Arjun in the chariot, signifying that it was from that time that Indian’s governed.
