A TikTok account called @whatthecluck.my, devoted to “feeding you the chicken facts you should know,” has explained common mistakes people make when storing leftover chicken that could make you and your family sick.
The account suggests a few ways to safely store your leftovers to avoid foodborne illnesses.
Firstly, divide large amounts of leftovers into small, shallow containers for quick cooling in the fridge. Make sure the container is airtight. The TikToker also advises: “Don’t overload the container.”

When you’re ready to eat, make sure to heat it evenly until it’s hot, or the thickest part of it reaches 74 degrees Celsius.
