Max is going full speed on giving updates on its zombie-turned-revenge story. The Last of Us season 2 has found its Jesse with Beef star Young Mazino. The supporting actor comes in a day after Kaitlyn Dever was revealed to be co-protagonist Abby. They will join Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey for the second season of the hit series based on the popular video game series.
Jesse (played by Stephen A. Chang in the game) is a supporting character in The Last of Us Part 2, who is a resident of Jackson, a town that is the home to survivors in the fungi zombie apocalypse. He is one of the characters who reluctantly helps Ellie (played in the games by Ashley Johnson and in the series by Ramsey) on her path of revenge.
Max Finds Its Jesse for The Last of Us Season 2 With Beef Breakout Star Young Mazino
Young Mazino will be jumping from one hit series to the next with Max’s The Last of Us. He was recently nominated for an Emmy for his supporting role in Beef. After years of being in shorts and starring in one episode of long-running series, he found his biggest role yet in the Steven Yeun and Ali Wong series. He played the unreliable brother to Yeun’s character, who finds himself in his brother’s conflict with a woman (Wong) as she starts to catfish him.
The first season of the series covered the first game that was originally released in 2013. The second season will partially cover the second game, which was released in 2020 and will be remastered later this month. Craig Mazin, co-creator of the adaptation, previously confirmed it would take multiple seasons to cover the game. Those who played it know its larger scope as it balances telling a revenge story from two opposing sides.
No release date has been set for The Last of Us season 2. Its window is currently penciled in for 2025 after delays from the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes from last year.
