This beach in Cornwall has been named one of the best in the world thanks to its pretty scenery and unique sand dunes.
Harlyn Bay is considered one of the best family beaches in Cornwall, with surfers travelling to visit the popular location.
Located near Padstow, the beach is home to golden sand and a small stream with plenty of rock pools to explore.
Travel expert Robin Hutson named it as one of the best in the world, citing it as being perfect for “walkers, runners, families and toddlers” and describing it as “the ideal English beach”.
The crescent shape makes it popular amongst families, offering shelter from the wind and making an ideal swimming spot for adults and children.
But it’s also the perfect surfing beach, with the horseshoe shape providing a range of waves for even novice surfers.
There is also plenty of golden sand, making it a great family-friendly beach. And it’s not just experts calling it one of the best, with tourists raving about it in online reviews.
Donna called it the “best beach in the UK”, adding: “This is by far our favourite beach, it’s beautiful as are the other beaches on this part of the Cornish coast.”
Another wrote: “The car parking is reasonably priced (but patrolled by a very effective parking attendant so make sure you don’t over-run) and there’s plenty of it.
“Be aware that when the flat car park next to the beach is full, the rest is on the adjoining hillside so access for less mobile people may be an issue unless you drop off and then go park.
“There’s another great Beach Box cafe with some outdoor seating for a snack or hot/cold (non-alcoholic) drink and in high season an ice cream van sets up on the beach. There are toilets in a block on the other side of the road from the entrance to the beach car park.
“The beach itself widens as the tide goes out giving plenty of room for visitors to spread out. A shallow freshwater stream crosses the beach at the top end so you may need to wade across to reach the sea-side.”
Lifeguards are often present at Harlyn Bay come peak summer months, offering surfers and families reassurance for those hoping to enter the water.
Dogs are also allowed on the beach all year round, making it the perfect dog walking spot for those staying nearby.
There is also a shop and pub nearby, offering respite for those hoping to spend the day at the beach.
