“Dune” star Zendaya, who was born and raised in Oakland, was spotted in the Bay Area visiting Berkeley’s cherished Yogurt Park shop earlier this week.
On Wednesday, a TikTok post captured the Emmy-winning actress holding a cup of frozen yogurt from Yogurt Park as she walked alongside two other individuals. Yogurt Park co-owner Ryan Piscovich confirmed Zendaya’s visit and shared that the star ordered a $5.25 mini cup of chocolate and vanilla frozen yogurt topped with rainbow sprinkles.
“This isn’t her first time. She comes in regularly,” Piscovich told SFGATE on Friday. “She came in at least five times last year.”
According to Piscovich, Zendaya visited the popular Berkeley shop in the early afternoon. He shared that she has historically visited later in the evening when more customers saunter in for a snack. Despite her frequent visits to Yogurt Park, Piscovich admitted that he has never met his famous customer in person, adding that he missed her Wednesday trip by 30 minutes.
Piscovich’s father Marty opened Yogurt Park in 1977. The tiny frozen yogurt shop offers a rotating menu of six flavors, ranging from Girl Scout-inspired Thin Mint cookies to tropical passion orange guava sorbet. Classic flavors like Ghirardelli chocolate and vanilla are always available. Along the way, Yogurt Park has become the go-to spot for UC Berkeley students in need of a sweet treat, and it’s also been a hit with celebrity clients. Piscovich shared that members of Green Day are also fans.
“There’s a long history here and maybe there’s other famous people who have come in,” Piscovich said. “We’re a family business, so it’s super flattering.”
