There is fresh competition on the market for the Anand Tiwari-directed Bad Newz starring Vicky Kaushal, Triptii Dimri, and Ammy Virk. Deadpool & Wolverine, the buddy superhero film starring Shawn Levy, has begun to rule the Indian box office, even though no Bollywood film has been released this week.
The comedy-drama had the highest opening weekend gross of Vicky Kaushal’s career at Rs 8.3 crore. After a strong start to the weekend, Bad Newz brought in Rs 10.25 cr on Saturday and Rs 11.15 cr on Sunday. The romantic comedy had a sharp decline on day four and hasn’t increased since. Sacnilk claims that on its second Friday (day 8), the dramedy brought in Rs 2.15 crore. On the second Saturday, however, early estimates place its earnings at Rs 3.25 crore. The current estimate for the whole collection in nine days is Rs 48.25 crore.

Film trade expert Taran Adarsh asserts that Bad Newz has been ‘impacted’ by the new arrival. Even though the little decline in numbers may indicate that the rom-com is holding its own against the strong Hollywood contender. On the plus side, he also said that the collection ought to rise throughout the course of the weekend. This weekend, the Vicky Kaushal and Ammy Virk starrer is anticipated to reach the Rs 50 crore mark at the domestic box office.

The story of Bad Newz centres on Saloni Bagga, played by Triptii, who suffers from heteropaternal superfecundation.
