Bacon will taste ‘delicious’ with chef’s cooking tip

While frying bacon is typically the go-to method for crispy bacon, chef Frank Proto promised there’s another way to ensure a delicious bite.

Posting to his YouTube channel, chef Frank revealed how to get “super crispy” bacon in a microwave.

The cooking expert said: “As a chef, I have zero problems with the microwave, it’s a great tool.”

Chef Frank said: “If you need to get your bacon cooked in minutes, and you only need two or three slices, the microwave is the way to go.”

Frank noted this technique’s easy clean-up, as there’s no dirty frying pan to clean up afterwards.

How to make crispy bacon without a frying pan

Lay the bacon on a plate lined with kitchen roll, cover with more kitchen roll to absorb fat and to steam the bacon, then microwave on a high setting for four to six minutes.

Frank promised the bacon will turn out “super crispy and delicious” every time. While the microwave is handy if you’re only cooking up to three slices of bacon, if you’re doing a larger batch, inside the oven is the best method.

Chef Frank said: “You can cook bulk amounts of bacon, with less space, there’s no tending to the bacon, it also cooks the bacon more evenly without splatters in your kitchen, and the results are superior in every way.”

All that’s required is a baking tray and some parchment paper. Frank explained that cooking on parchment allows the bacon to “cook in its own fat”.

While this leads to the tastiest bacon, you are also able to drain off the fat before serving.

To begin, arrange your streaky slices side by side on baking parchment, then slide the tray into an oven preheated to 180C for roughly fifteen minutes.

Once finished, allow the crispy strips to drip dry on a sheet of kitchen roll to remove extra fat, then enjoy!
