The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday accused the BJP supporters of pelting stones at the convoy of former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal during his campaign in the New Delhi constituency.

AAP Convenor Arvind Kejriwal is contesting against BJP’s former MP Parvesh Verma from the New Delhi constituency in the upcoming Delhi Assembly polls, scheduled to take place on February 5. The election results will be announced on February 8.

Sharing a video of the purported attack on Kejriwal on X, AAP wrote, “Fearing defeat, BJP panicked, got its goons to attack Arvind Kejriwal.” It added: “BJP people, Kejriwal ji is not going to be scared of your cowardly attack, the people of Delhi will give you a befitting reply.”

The ruling AAP demanded the Election Commission’s intervention for action against BJP candidate Parvesh Verma, according to sources. Meanwhile, AAP’s Priyanka Kakkar claimed threat to life to Kejriwal after the alleged attack.

BJP Hits Back

Responding to the allegations, BJP’s candidate from the New Delhi seat Parvesh Verma alleged that the car of Arvind Kejriwal hit two BJP supporters, who have now been rushed to Lady Hardinge Medical College for treatment.

“The car of Arvind Kejriwal has gone ahead by crushing the workers of the BJP. The leg of the worker (BJP) has broken and I am going to the Lady Hardinge Medical College to inquire about his health. This is very shameful,” said Verma.

Another BJP leader and former MP, Parvesh Sahib Singh, shared the purported video of the incident, showing that Kejriwal’s car crushed two men on the road.

Dr Prashant, who is treating the injured BJP workers at the Lady Hardinge Medical College, confirmed the presence of injuries on their legs. “We have seen their injuries and they have injuries on their legs. We have given them first aid and now their X-ray is being conducted.”

In the upcoming February 5 elections, the AAP aims to retain control of the national capital, while the BJP is making every effort to unseat the Kejriwal-led party, levelling accusations of corruption against it.
