Veteran actress Aruna Irani shared experiences of working with legendary filmmaker Raj Kapoor on the sets of Bobby.

With a career spanning over six decades, recently, the veteran actress reflected on her acting journey and shared experiences of working with legendary filmmaker Raj Kapoor. She also described Raj Kapoor’s fair treatment for his son, Rishi Kapoor, and actress Dimple Kapadia on the sets of Bobby.
Aruna Irani’s candid memories of Raj Kapoor on Bobby sets
Aruna recalled that Raj Kapoor treated his son Rishi Kapoor like any other new actor. Speaking to E-Times, the actress said, “He treated Dimple and Chintu the same way. He shouted if they did something wrong, but if they did something good, he would encourage them too. You got to be lucky to work with a director like that.”
Moreover, Aruna recounted a moment when Raj Kapoor showed remarkable compassion for his actors. She describe one evening, while waiting for lighting to be set up for a party scene, she felt unwell. When Raj Kapoor spotted her in discomfort, he immediately told her to not work in such pain and postponed the shooting. Even though Aruna insisted on managing, Raj Kapoor firmly declined and told her ‘No, I am actor. I know how it feels.’
‘He was a mischievous child’: Aruna Irani on working with Rishi Kapoor
Aruna who has worked with Rishi Kapoor in several films, reminisced how he was on sets. She said, ” Raj Ji never treated him like his son on the sets. I did quite a few films with Rishi Kapoor. He was a nice person. He was a mischievous child. As an actor, he was very cooperative with his directors and co-actors.”
