Apple has silently launched the HomePod and HomePod Mini smart speakers via its Malaysian website.
The HomePod is priced at RM1,549 and comes in two colours (midnight and white), while the HomePod Mini costs RM529 and has five colour options (space grey, blue, yellow, white, and orange).
Both smart speakers feature Apple’s Siri voice assistant, acting as a smart home hub, and can be paired with another speaker of the same model to provide stereo audio, with Dolby Atmos also supported on the larger HomePod.
The HomePod also boasts a high‑excursion woofer which Apple says provides deeper bass, while the Mini uses an acoustic waveguide to allow for more consistent sound.
Another nifty feature of the HomePod is the real-time tuning based on the room that it’s in. The smart speaker does this using an array of microphones to capture how the sound bounces and automatically adapts to its environment.
While users can order either of the smart speakers right now, delivery is not slated until May 10, according to the Apple website.
Both models come with a six-month free subscription to Apple Music. However, this is only available to new subscribers and can only be activated by connecting either of the HomePods to an Apple device running iOS 15 or iPadOS 15 or newer.
