Ileana D’Cruz portrayed the role of Shruti Ghosh in Barfi!, a part that was initially intended for a different actress. Her character played a crucial role in the film, and the director, Anurag Basu, had initially hoped for Katrina Kaif to take on the role.
Since Ileana’s character also provided the film’s narration, Basu wanted Katrina’s voice for the narration. He even shared the storyline of Barfi! with her. However, Katrina ultimately declined the offer, uncertain about how her role would be received in a film featuring two leading actresses. The role was then offered to Ileana D’Cruz.
