Android users warned Google Chrome and Calendar app will stop working properly soon – check if your phone is on the list

ANDROID users with older phones will no longer receive updates for Google Chrome and the Calendar app.

The pair are dropping support for a raft of Android devices, according to 9to5Google, which means the apps may begin to stop working properly for millions of users.

Apps tend to receive updates to fix bugs and introduce new features.

But all that will stop once these Chrome and the Calendar axe support for older Android phones.

This is the typical life cycle for Google.

Over time, the tech giant eventually drops support from its major apps for older versions of Android.

Android 14 is the latest version of Android – but the majority of Android owners are still working with Android 11.

Earlier this month, Google confirmed the removal on a support page: “The last version of Chrome that supports Android Nougat is Chrome 119, and it includes a message to affected users informing them to upgrade their operating system. 

“Chrome 120 will not support nor ship to users running Android Nougat.”

The current version of Chrome for Android is version 119.

This means folks are currently on the last supported version for devices running Android 7.1 and older.

Meanwhile, TheSpAndroid uncovered found that the latest versions of Google Calendarshow a new pop-up message in the app that will appear for users on older versions of Android.

On devices running Android 7.1 Nougat and below, the message will say: “Your current Android version is no longer supported.

“Please update your operating system to continue using Google Calendar.”
