Amsterdam Christmas mini cruise promises ‘weekend full of tinsel and glitter’ | Cruise | Travel

If you’re searching for something to put in your diary this winter, to ensure that December offers more than just a countdown to Christmas, there’s nothing quite like a mini cruise to perk things up. There are plenty of places you can get to really quickly for a lovely weekend away, after all.

The perfect example is being served up this by P&O Ferries, which has a really lovely-sounding mini-cruise on December 13-15, taking voyagers on a trip to Amsterdam and back from just £139 per person. That price includes two nights in your en-suite cabin as well as a day trip to Amsterdam, making for pretty phenomenal value.

You’ll arrive at Hull on your first night to board the boat, then travel overnight to Rotterdam. In the morning a coach will take you to Amsterdam for the day before collecting you to take you home, and you’ll then sleep aboard again to wake up back in Hull, making for a brilliant weekend. Of course, while you’re on the ship you’ll also get to enjoy some fun, including tribute acts to the likes of Kylie Minogue and a range of classic boybands.

This gives you the chance not just to enjoy some festive partying while onboard, but also to check out Amsterdam’s famous museums, canals and sights – even finding a Christmas market to explore. You can get a sense of how fun the trip is by browsing reviews from previous passengers on the likes of TripAdvisor and other sites. One happy passenger wrote a few years ago: “The evening entertainment was really good… All in all a great trip and my first mini cruise with P&O will not be my last – highly recommended.”

Another person wrote: “The coach transfer to Amsterdam was very good and picked us up on time the next day… Overall, I would definitely recommend this way of travelling to Rotterdam or Amsterdam.”

Finally, a third said: “The staff on board the ship – well, what can I say? Absolutely fantastic – they went above and beyond to make sure everything you had you needed. We had a 1-year-old little girl with us and they were so attentive to her, even to the point where they asked if we wanted them to sit with us and entertain her whilst we could eat our dinner and breakfast.”

Some people had more critical notes to share, though, like one who said: “A good shower but no room to dry off.” Another wrote: “The kids’ play area was a bit lacking. Can never have too big a soft play area when all they want to do is burn off energy.”

Of course, you could also fly to Amsterdam if desired, and EasyJet has flights to the city from UK airports for as little as £15 each way if you prefer that travel method. Of course, you don’t get the fun of the cruise atmosphere that way, though, and you’d have to pay for accommodation while you’re there.

So, if you want a fun weekend away featuring some glitz and glamour, along with a chance to explore Amsterdam for a day, don’t sleep on this Amsterdam mini-cruise from P&O.
