During an Ask Me Anything session on Twitter, several users asked the actress about the sequel of ‘Kaho Na… Pyaar Hai’.In one of her responses, Ameesha Patel wrote, “Well, all I can say is with confidence. When the ticket counters are mentally prepared for 60 crores plus opening tab I guess that’s kaho na pyaar hai 2 for you on screens that v day.” In response to another fan, the ‘Gadar’ actress stated, “Like I already said when the industry is ready for havoc again. Means it’s KAHO na pyaar hai 2 for you.”
In an old interview with Hindustan Times, Ameesha revealed that after meeting her at a wedding when she was just a teenager, Rakesh Roshan made the decision to cast her with Hrithik. She also mentioned that Rakesh and her father attended the same school.
Recalling ‘The Day’, Ameesha disclosed that she had no intention of attending this party. Because her mother wasn’t feeling well, she went with her father. She shared, “We were leaving when Rakesh uncle was entering. He did not recognize me and asked my father, ‘Amit who is this pretty young girl with you?’. The funniest thing is that after watching me dance at a common friend’s sangeet when I was 14/15, he expressed his desire to launch me alongside Hrithik,”
Ameesha revealed that her father declined for the film initially but Ameesha’s role as the lead in this cult classic was destined. A few days later, Rakesh invited her family for lunch, where she was offered the film and she was on the set on the fourth day. She added, “We started with the cruise scene, that’ll always stay with me as a beautiful memory. I got lucky… I don’t think I would’ve asked for any other film to begin my journey.”
When ‘Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai’ was released, it became an instant hit and was listed in the Guinness World Records (2002) and Limca Book of Records (2003) as the most award-winning Bollywood film prior to KNPH. The movie also starred Anupam Kher, Dalip Tahil, and Mohnish Behl in pivotal roles.
