The View’s Alyssa Farah Griffin audibly scoffed as Joy Behar continued to question why voters re-elected Donald Trump on Friday.
“I don’t know what people were thinking when they voted for him,” Behar exclaimed during a discussion of Time Magazine‘s announcement that Trump had been named its Person of the Year for 2024. The remark caused Griffin to scoff and look out to the audience.
“I mean, this one statistic got to me,” Behar continued:
BEHAR: He [Trump] lost, during his term, 200,000 manufacturing jobs. He lost them. Joe Biden added more than 775,000 jobs —
GRIFFIN: But, it’s —
BEHAR: And people voted for Trump. I think that they have been misinformed —
SARA HAINES: He’s a salesman!
BEHAR: — misled by other networks. You know, people get mad at us, they say we’re one-sided here. The statistics are here!
GRIFFIN: But, I do think it was cost of living. Because I think a lot of voters think of the Trump years —
BEHAR: But, there were more jobs created!
Griffin finished her point: “They’re thinking of the Trump years before the coronavirus came, and unemployment spiked, and the economy went into freefall. And it was a time when people had more money, whether you attribute it to him, or whatever you do.”
Earlier in the argument, Griffin explained why she thought Trump was chosen by Time.
“Think about it from this perspective: So, he basically left in disgrace after January 6th and was kind of exiled down to Mar-a-Lago for two years, then came back as the leader of the Republican Party, swept the GOP primary, goes on to win the presidential race after surviving two assassination attempts. I don’t like the man, I didn’t vote for the man, but, I mean, he is the most powerful force in American culture and politics right now,” she submitted.
