Aldi shoppers given 3-day warning as 174 stores lose service this Sunday

Shoppers at discount retail giant Aldi have been given a three-day warning as a popular shopping service it offers is going to be axed this Sunday.

Aldi is ditching its click and collect service which allowed shoppers to buy groceries online and then head in store to collect them.

After trialling the ending of click and collect at select stores last year, the retailer is now dropping click and collect from 174 locations which offered it from this Sunday.

It means shoppers have just three days left to order click and collect shopping before the service ends.

Aldi explained that it is making the change to maintain its focus on ‘efficiency’ to keep prices low.

It said: “At Aldi, our focus is on providing customers with high-quality products at the lowest possible prices.

“One of the ways we keep our prices low for customers is by running the most efficient supermarket business in Britain

“As a result, we’ve made the decision to bring our Click and Collect service to an end so we can focus on doing just that.”

Aldi was awarded the cheapest supermarket by consumer magazine Which? In both June and July, beating Lidl, Asda and Tesco as well as Morrisons and Sainsbury’s by a clear margin, even accounting for Tesco Clubcard and Sainsbury’s Nectar card prices.

Shoppers can get their food delivered by the other major retailers though, including a scheme which can save you up to £208 a year on deliveries.
