Air fryer Yorkshire puddings are easy to make with one added extra

Cooking Yorkshire puddings from scratch can seem like more effort than it’s worth, especially when they don’t turn out with a crisp shell and soft centre.

Those with an air fryer are in luck, however, as there’s a quick way to make them using this handy piece of equipment.

Sharing his recipe exclusively with Express.co.uk, Philips Airfryer chef, Martin Senders revealed his cooking secret for perfect results.

While the use of an air fryer, such as the Phillips Dual Basket Air Fryer (£179), is essential, there’s one ingredient Martin swears by.

He claimed that proof is in the pudding when it comes to his simple four-ingredient recipe.

Ingredients

100ml milk

Two eggs

60g all-purpose (or plain) flour

Sunflower or vegetable oil

Method

Before making the batter, preheat the air fryer to 170C and find a small four-piece muffin tin that fits in the air fryer basket.

The next step is to “generously oil the muffin cups”, which Martin suggests is crucial to perfectly golden and slightly fluffy results.

There’s no need to heat the oil beforehand, just set the muffin tray aside for later.  Meanwhile, make the batter by first cracking the eggs into a bowl before adding the flour a little at a time, whisking in between.

It may help to sieve the flour into the bowl to avoid any lumps, as a smooth batter is the goal.

Continue to whisk the batter together until silky with a runny consistency. Finally, pour the batter evenly between the muffin cases in the tin.

Cook at 170C for 20 minutes, then remove from the device and serve piping hot. The Yorkshire puddings pair perfectly with a joint of roast beef, which can also be cooked in an air fryer.

Add a side of crispy roast potatoes to a spread of meat and vegetables for a complete classic spread.
