Few things are better than gloriously golden roast potatoes, but they’re hard to cook quickly in a traditional oven.
Many people swear by sizzling hot oil to achieve that desirable crisp on the outside of the spuds, and while effective, it’s not the only way to cook perfect roasties.
Instead, the experts at Wren Kitchens and TikTok star @healthyairfryerrecipes recommend using an air fryer.
But that’s not the only swap to achieve what they claimed are “the best air fryer roasties”.
The cooking experts told Express.co.uk: “Tinned potatoes are such an easy option!”
The foodies continued: “Putting them into the air fryer with seasoning will result in a little crunch on the outside, and perfectly soft on the inside – and it only takes 15 minutes.”
Instead of using a long list of ingredients, such as flour, salt, expensive oils, or semolina, these air fryer potatoes are kept simple with two ingredients.
And the best part is, there’s no par-boiling required as the baby spuds are already pre-cooked. Plus, they’re incredibly cheap to buy from most major supermarkets.
Tinned potatoes cost just 38p in Morrisons and Aldi, 75p at Asda, or 80p in Tesco and Sainsbury’s.

The ingredients remain simple; tinned new potatoes and seasoning, but salt and pepper are essential in addition to any other flavours.
Those looking to spice up their roast spuds can add a sprinkling of paprika or chilli flakes. Alternatively, herby combinations like rosemary and thyme work well with garlic.
For a mouth-watering twist, English mustard or marmite are also great options.
Method
To cook the potatoes, preheat the air fryer to 180C before draining the potatoes from the tin.
Meanwhile, place the potatoes into a large bowl and sprinkle with your chosen seasoning, then toss to coat.
Place the seasoned spuds in the air fryer basket to cook for 15 minutes at 180C, shaking halfway through.
The results should be crisp, crunchy and golden roasties with the white, fluffy core still intact.
