For the post-mortem, Kalyani Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Hospital’s infrastructure was used; after which, police sent the deceased’s body to her village.
The Calcutta High Court on Sunday directed that the post-mortem of the minor be conducted at AIIMS Hospital court on Monday morning. The court also observed that the parents need to be present virtually and videography of the entire process must be done.
The nine-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered in Jaynagar while returning home from her tuition class. Her body was recovered from a canal early Friday morning.
Two days after the incident, the Forensic team reached the Place of Occurrence (PoA) in Jaynagar on Monday and collected samples.
Meanwhile, the villagers have continued to protest in Jaynagar’s Mahishmari village for the third day consecutive day, demanding justice for the minor. BJP workers also protested in front of the hospital during the post-mortem.Union Minister (MoS) Sukanta Majumdar wrote a letter today to Union Minister of Women & Child Welfare Annapurna Devi to send a team to Bengal.“I have written a letter to Annapurna Devi. I have urged the Centre to send a team to Jaynagar. Situation is such, any kind of incident can happen there. Police outpost has turned into a place where alcohol is found galore, goons and local Trinamool miscreants come together,” said the BJP leader.
“In light of the seriousness of the situation, I earnestly request that a delegation be sent to the site to ensure the safety and security of women and children. I am confident that, under your able leadership, prompt action will be taken to address this grave matter,” his letter further reads.
