Agoura Hills home of ‘Monk,’ ‘House of Cards’ composer Jeff Beal lists for $4.1M – Daily News

The Agoura Hills estate of Emmy Award-winning “House of Cards” composer Jeff Beal surfaced this week for $4.05 million.

Built in 2007 on a 1.24-acre lot, the 5,746-square-foot Tuscan-style house has five bedrooms, five bathrooms and an office.

According to the listing, Beal composed many of his film and television scores in the great room, which has a high ceiling and stone floor.

Chiseled ceiling beams, heavy wood doors, columns, arches, custom ironwork, authentic stone counters and five grand fireplaces contribute to the home’s old-world aesthetic.

Property records show Beal and his wife Joan, a studio singer whose soprano has appeared in hundreds of scores by top Hollywood composers and in the concert hall, bought the house in January 2010 for $2.07 million.

The great room combines the formal living and dining rooms.

There’s a wine cellar behind doors.

A built-in country-style table anchors a gourmet kitchen with custom cabinetry and high-end appliances. It opens to the family room, which has a fireplace and wood floors.

The main living spaces separate a guest en suite from the primary retreat, which boasts a bedroom with a fireplace, a fireside tub overlooking the garden and two walk-in closets.

Another three bedrooms, including an en suite with a balcony, are upstairs.

Oak trees surround the house, with a fully roofed, European paver patio with an outdoor stone fireplace. The grounds include raised bed planters with drip irrigation.

A four-car garage, dual Ethernet ports in every room, three-zoned HVAC and homeowner-owned solar complete the property. The wiring and plumbing are designed to accommodate a future pool and spa as shown in the blueprints.

Linda Rich of Sotheby’s International Realty holds the listing.

Beal, 61, is a composer for film and television who has won five Emmy Awards. These include the main title theme music from the first season of “Monk” in 2003, as well as his work on “Nightmares and Dreamscapes: From the Stories of Stephen King” in 2007,  “The Company” in 2008 and “House of Cards” in 2015 and 2017.

In addition to his soundtrack scores, Beal is a recording artist.

His latest album is “New York Études,” touted as “a celebration of healing and hope” by the piano blog NoDeadGuys.com.

As the article reads, “These gorgeous tracks reflect not only his gift for singing melodies and beautiful harmonizations but also the healing he found at the piano after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.”

Beal now calls New York City home.
