AEW boss Tony Khan meets with Shane McMahon • AIPT

AEW owner Tony Khan had a private meeting with former Executive Vice President of WWE Shane McMahon to discuss “possibilities moving forward”, according to a report by WrestleTalk and confirmed by Fightful.

While we don’t know exactly what was said in the meeting, Khan has been complimentary of McMahon in the past, saying he has “a lot of respect” for him, “as an executive and a professional wrestler”.

Shane McMahon, son of former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, has been working in the wrestling business nearly his entire life, working his way up from the merchandise warehouse to executive vice president and even a multi-time champion as an in-ring talent. He hasn’t been seen on WWE television since tearing his quad moments into an impromptu match against The Miz at WrestleMania 39.

A McMahon working for AEW is such a mind-melting concept, it can only be compared to another moment Shane had a pivotal role in: the then-WWF’s purchase of WCW in 2001, and the resulting Invasion storyline that followed led by Shane. With Vince and Stephanie both gone from WWE, there are currently no McMahons working in the wrestling business at all, so it would be shocking to see one re-enter the business outside of the company they turned into a household name and instead with their biggest rival. But it would certainly make for a compelling story.
