NC500 visitors have been left ‘absolutely disgusted’ after discovering piles of human waste.
One tourist took to social media to share her outrage at the horror find.
The woman described three different stops on the scenic route littered with toilet waste.
She wrote online: “I come to the Highlands a number of times every year for a few days with the caravan.
“Have done for many many years.
“Today we went for a drive from Dalwhinnie to Laggan.
“It’s a beautiful drive. We stopped in 3 laybys to look through binoculars as always, looking for wildlife and such.
“Sadly on all three stops, we had to dodge human poop.
“Multiple piles along with used toilet paper and wipes and nappies.
“Right on the verges. I get it that you can get caught short.
“But if you have wipes and toilet roll, surely you can also carry bags to dispose of responsibly. No wonder locals get annoyed.”
And she wasn’t the only one fuming as others chimed in on the shock discovery.
One said: “I’m glad that other visitors are now seeing the issues that the poor residents of the route are dealing with on a daily basis.”
Another added: “I have never seen such appalling displays of camping as I have this year.”
A third wrote: “What is wrong with people.”
While one said: “Absolutely vile.”
