Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar has been one of the year’s most talked-about shows. The Netflix series, created by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, earned praise for its opulent sets, costumes, music, and stellar performances.
The show’s positive reception quickly made Netflix renew it for a second season. Sanjeeda Sheikh, who impressed everyone with her role as Waheedajaan in the show, has confirmed her appearance in Heeramandi Season 2.
Sanjeeda Sheikh Talks About Heeramandi Season 2
Sanjeeda Sheikh opened up about the highly awaited Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar Season 2 in an interview with News18 Showsha. Confirming being a part of the new season, the actress revealed that all the actors are ready to be back on set.
She added that the upcoming season will be bigger and better than the first one. However, even Sanjeeda is still waiting to be made aware of when the filming for the second season will begin. She said, “I’m sure Heeramandi 2 will be bigger and better. I don’t know when we’ll start shooting. It’s unpredictable regarding Sir (Sanjay Leela Bhansali).”
“So, the call to return to that set is also unpredictable. But all I can say is that the actors are ready,” she added. SLB had earlier discussed the plot of Heeramandi Season 2. The filmmaker revealed that the story will revolve around the courtesans as they try their hand in the film industry.
He told Variety in June 2024, “In ‘Heeramandi 2,’ the women now come from Lahore to the film world. They left Lahore after the partition, and most settled in the Mumbai film industry or the Kolkata film industry. So, that journey in the bazaar remains the same. They still have to dance and sing, but this time for the producers and not for the nawabs.”
The show’s first season starred Sanjeeda along with Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal Mehta, and Taha Shah Badussha. Released in May 2024, the period drama became the second most-watched non-English show on Netflix within a week of its release.
