A WOMAN has been arrested after a 38-year-old man died in a horror late-night crash in a Scots town.
The tragic incident last night saw a Volkswagen Golf crash on Clune Brae in Port Glasgow, Inverclyde.
The motor is alleged to have crashed into a Peugeot car at around 9.55pm.
Emergency crews were quickly scrambled to the scene as the alarm was raised.
Tragically, a 38-year-old man who was a passenger in the Volkswagen was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, a 50-year-old woman, was also taken to hospital for treatment.
The nature of her injuries is currently unknown.
But she was also arrested by police in connection to the incident.
She was later released pending further enquiries.
Cops locked down the road as they launched a probe into the fatal crash.
The scene was closed down for hours as police launched an investigation to establish the full circumstances of the crash.
Any drivers with information have been urged to get in touch with officers.
Motorists who were in the area and who have dashcam footage have also been urged to speak with the police.
Chief Inspector David Doherty said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died.
“As our enquiries continue, we urge anyone who was in the area of Clune Brae and either witnessed the crash or has any information that may assist our investigation to contact us.
“Anyone with dash-cam or personal footage is asked to review it and please get in touch if it contains anything relevant to our investigation.
